MCX TO LAUNCH GOLD OPTIONS ON DHANTERAS

Options trading in commodities will soon be a reality, with the SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) giving its permission to the MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange) for the launch of gold options contracts with 1 kg gold futures as the underlying asset.

On 10 October 2017, MCX said it was targeting Dhanteras (17 October) as the launch date. The Indian festival is considered auspicious for buying gold and other investments.

In February 2015, the government allowed options in commodities for the first time. Two years back, the commodity regulator was merged with SEBI, creating the way for implementing options trading.
